IPL Photofacial

IPL Photofacial

Sun exposure is one of the main causes of premature aging and skin damage. No matter how hard you try to protect yourself from sunburn and sun damage, it’s almost impossible to avoid the effects of the sun entirely. An IPL photofacial is specifically designed to reverse these effects, as well as treat skin conditions like rosacea, flushing and broken capillaries.*

Pacifica Medical Spa Studio City has helped hundreds of Los Angeles men and women with IPL photofacials, along with our extensive menu of other skincare services. Our Aesthetic Nurses will work with you to determine your unique needs and help you develop a personalized approach to skincare and anti-aging treatments.

Contact us online or call our Studio City office at 805-484-2855 to take the first step toward achieving your best look.

How Does an IPL Photofacial Work?

A photofacial works by using intense pulsed light, or IPL, to destroy the pigment in unwanted lesions or flushing of the skin. The intense pulsed light is directly applied to your skin and absorbed by pigment such as freckles, sun spots, redness from sun damage, uneven skin tone and even vascular lesions. The energy from this light causes these markings to gradually fade away.*

Before Your IPL Photofacial

Before getting your photofacial, you’ll have a consultation with one of our Aesthetic Nurses. During your consultation, you can discuss your reasons for considering IPL treatment and learn more about what to expect from the procedure. Photofacials are typically performed on the face, neck or décolletage, but they can also be performed on the backs of the hands, shoulders or another part of the body.*

Depending on your needs, your Aesthetic Nurse may also recommend other treatments to help improve the quality of your complexion. For instance, vein removal treatments can minimize or remove spider veins on the legs or other parts of the body, while laser skin resurfacing can also help tone and tighten the skin.*

We also offer BBL photofacial treatments at our Camarillo location.

Your IPL Photofacial Procedure

During your IPL treatment, you’ll be asked to wear a pair of protective glasses while your Aesthetic Nurse passes a handpiece over your skin. The handpiece will emit pulses of light, which may feel like slight tingles or the snap of a rubber band. You may find the procedure mildly uncomfortable, but people generally don’t find it painful. The procedure usually takes around 30 minutes to complete, making it easy to fit into your schedule.*

Your Recovery & Results

One of the greatest benefits of IPL treatments is that they require no downtime. Your face may appear slightly flushed afterward, but you can continue about your normal schedule as soon as you leave our office. As always, take care to avoid direct sun exposure to help maintain your results.*

After you get your photofacial, your skin should appear more even-toned and brighter. Some spots, freckles or veins may get darker for a few days before they fade away. This is a normal part of the IPL treatment. Most people schedule a series of 2 to 5 treatments spaced about 1 month apart.*
